RIDING AND HOLIDAY ON THE FARM

Our holiday farm looks back on a long family history rich in tradition. Here we give a little insight into our very personal farm history - from an agricultural business to an exciting adventure farm.

The Feinen farm was a purely agricultural business for over 100 years.

Initially it was run full-time as a dairy farm, later as a pig fattening farm.

In 1992, a holiday home was added and rental to holiday guests for farm holidays began.

The “holiday on the farm” became increasingly popular, so that other holiday homes, holiday apartments, a barbecue hut and a wellness and fitness area with an indoor pool soon followed.

The Feinen holiday farm in Fleringen is now one of the most popular providers of farm holidays in Rhineland-Palatinate. Due to its proximity to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the neighboring countries of Belgium and the Netherlands, many guests from further afield also like to visit us to spend their family holiday in the Eifel.

HOLIDAY FARM OF THE YEAR

In 2005 and 2008, our
Ferienhof Feinen was named DLG Holiday Farm of the Year.

The DLG award is given annually to ten selected companies in Germany that either have the DLG quality mark “Holiday on the Farm”, “Holiday on the Winery” or “Rural Holiday” and are distinguished by a particularly diverse and sustainable range of offers in the field of rural tourism.

FLERINGEN - LOCAL HISTORY

The place name goes back to “Floriacus” (i.e. belonging to Florus) and indicates
to an early settlement in Celtic-Roman times. The first documented mention
as “Flariche” dates back to the year 816.

Since the Middle Ages, the landowners in Fleringen were the Trier monastery of St. Irminen, the lords
von Kerpen and then their heirs. The Manderscheid counts were appointed as governors of the monastery property. They were tasked with protecting the sovereign rights of the Trier abbesses. In 1761, the Duke of Arenberg leased the Fleringen fief for 250 Reichstaler and all the income and rights of the lordship.

Fleringen with Oberhersdorf, Scheuern and various farms in the surrounding area passed to him.
After the French abolished the feudal system, the peasants shared forest and land ownership.
